Metz

Published: 15.05.2023

We spent the day in Metz waiting for the rain to pass. That was quite useful, considering that the days ahead will have shorter distances and more locks. So, we planned to bypass Nancy on the Moselle and head straight into the Canal de Vosges. We estimated the route from Epinal through the Vosges to the Saonne to take around 8-10 days. We also had to register with the VNF (Voies Navigables de France). We didn't want to go on the trip without their support, as we will need their assistance with almost every lock we encounter.

We limited our tour of Metz to a few shops, and of course, we had to visit the Cathedral. On our way back to our mooring along the Moselle, we treated ourselves to a small coffee at the Opera.

The day quickly came to an end, and since we wanted to leave early the next day, we didn't watch a crime show. Instead, we went straight to bed.
