We had read that Mâcon is worth a stop. Since we hadn't taken a break yet, it was necessary. The supermarket was open on Sunday morning, and my first officer went with a backpack. Baguette was the most important basic food that was missing.
Inspired by the huge selection of wines in the market, we also brought back two bottles of Burgundy white wine, potatoes, and a few other small things on the boat.
Mâcon is known for its white wine, so we had to try it.
Then the preparations for the next few days, which stages will we drive, will there be thunderstorms in the afternoon ... . It had to be done again.
By the time we reach Arles, the bridges will be passable for our boat with a height of 5.25m, so Gustav was set up again.
In the late afternoon, we visited the city. It wasn't as hot anymore, and we had shade and a light breeze in the alleys. Mâcon is shown well in the pictures. Currently, a large part of the old town is being converted into a pedestrian zone. It will definitely be a beautiful sight. However, the facades of the houses have already aged considerably. Everything has a certain charm, but next time we would definitely moor in Tournus.
Goodbye Mâcon, the pictures of our pass-by confirm the impression from a distance.
