From Sarapiquí, I took the bus to La Fortuna by the Arenal Volcano. La Fortuna is a small, yet very touristic town that leaves no wishes unfulfilled. The contrast between Mariano's secluded Ecolodge and this lively hotspot could hardly be greater – and yet it feels good to be surrounded by a bit of civilization again.
The volcano, which is visible from almost everywhere, rises 1,640 meters high and is considered a landmark of the region. During its last major eruption in 1968, several surrounding villages were destroyed, and 80 people lost their lives. The last eruption occurred in 2010, and the volcano is still regarded as active.

Es geht jeden Tag ein bisschen besser. Die Krücken brauche ich nicht mehr. Aber ich zögere noch, sie zu verschenken, weil ich mit den Dingern überall bevorzugt behandelt werde und alle besonders hilfsbereit sind 🫣😂Carina9 months ago
