Today we explore the beautiful old town of Gamle Stan, with its many well-preserved colorful houses, then we take a walk in Djurgarden, the large recreational park in Stockholm.

Djurgården [ˈjʉːrˌgoːɖən] (Swedish djur = animal, gård/en = the yard, meaning: the animal garden) is an island, a district, and park area in the east of Stockholm. The partially forested island belongs to the Stockholm district Östermalm and has about 800 inhabitants, is 279 hectares large, and has a shoreline of 10,200 m. The island is actually called Valdemarsön, but in practice, only the district name is used.
