During the night, our ship made brief stops at the ports of Skjervøy, Øksfjord, and Hammerfest. In the morning, we arrive at Havøsund.

Havøysund was initially a small fishing village. In 1944, the settlement was heavily destroyed when the German occupation burned large parts of the Finnmark region. After the end of World War II, there was a significant increase in population. The Havøysund kirke is a church built in 1961. The predecessor church was set on fire by the German occupiers and burned down. Subsequently, a temporary chapel was built, which was eventually replaced by a new building.

Shortly before noon, we arrive at Honningsvåg, the starting point for the North Cape. We take a hike to the lookout point above Honningsvåg and explore the town itself.

Honningsvåg (also Sørvågen; Kven Vooki) is a town in the Norwegian municipality Nordkapp in the county (Fylke) Finnmark. The town serves as the administrative center of Nordkapp and has 2,255 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2024). Fishing and tourism are important sources of income for the town, which was destroyed at the end of World War II and subsequently rebuilt.

Honningsvåg is located in the southeast of the island Magerøya, on whose north coast lies the North Cape. Honningsvåg is situated in the east of a bay that forms a natural harbor. The village of Storbukt is also located at the bay, which has now merged with Honningsvåg. Honningsvåg is divided into the districts of Storbukt, Klubben, and Holmbukt. To the west of the harbor entrance lies the small island Store Altsula.
