Magdeburg - celebrating my birthday at home again after five years

During my journey through Germany, my hometown Magdeburg repeatedly served as a base between the various travel destinations. Here, I not only quickly did some laundry but also took the time to visit friends and family, and experience quite a bit. Concerts, racing, a lot of baking, and plenty of quality time.

Right in the second week of May, I got to attend a concert by the artist CATT. Interestingly, I had only discovered her a few weeks prior and immediately liked her music. Upon further research, I found out that she was touring and also had a concert in Magdeburg. So I spontaneously bought tickets and enjoyed the evening with Wiebke.
CATT sings and plays several instruments but also has a band that musically supports her. She has a mix of indie, jazz, and pop songs. It was a really nice concert, and we should support artists who come to Magdeburg.

Then I was away for a few days only to come back the following week. Because traditions must be upheld, such as playing Mario Kart. Every time I visit my old babysitting family, the Georgs, who are now very good friends, we play a round of Mario Kart. Maybe even two or three...

While I lack practice in between, I try to hold my own against my three opponents, which unfortunately does not always work out.

And then I had the honor of baking a wedding cake again. The request: a lot of chocolate and strawberries and a bit of marzipan. So, time to get to work.

My parents' kitchen was once again converted into a baking studio, and we diligently baked for three days. Chocolate layers were made for the three-tiered cake, creams and ganache were prepared, and marzipan decorations were crafted. In the end, the final result turned out quite well.

But I didn't just get creative in the baking department. I was able to spend a wonderful afternoon with my godchild.
Picked up from school, we had an ice cream break, a round of trampoline jumping, and then got creative. Together we mixed colors, taped canvases, and painted them in vibrant colors.

In May, it was already quite warm at times, with lovely sunset evenings.

And then it finally happened. We were able to welcome our first pets. My mother's dream was to have chickens one day. First came the little house, and by the end of May, the first four chickens finally arrived. Allow me to introduce: Selma, Hennelore, Wilma, and Hermine.

I planned my entire trip so that I could celebrate my birthday again with many lovely people. My fifth birthday since moving to London. It was really nice, and I thoroughly enjoyed the day.

But first, it was time to bake again. Because this year, I baked myself a birthday cake. A summery berry dream with a special cut.

There were a ton of people there who celebrated the day with me. There was lots of good food, delicious drinks, great conversations, and time for playing together.

The final time in Magdeburg was essentially the conclusion of my tour in Germany. After that, I was only on the way to Aachen and then to Brussels, both of which were just short stops on the journey back to the UK.

The birthday was truly special. Thank you to everyone who was there and made this day so unforgettable!
