Magdeburg - celebrating my birthday at home again after five years

Published: 12.09.2025

Last stop in Germany: Aachen. But just for one night, as my Eurostar back to London departs so early that I wouldn't have made it in time from Magdeburg. So, I boarded the train in the afternoon and arrived in Aachen around 9 PM.
To stretch my legs a bit and see at least something of the city, I ventured out in the pouring rain to find a small evening snack and get some impressions of Aachen at night.

And what can I say, it was partly very wet and not much was happening, but I did manage to get some fries, and my highlight: I walked past the German YouTuber Rezo. Otherwise, nothing exciting happened.
Then it was time to go to sleep and the next morning wake up early to pack my things and head towards Brussels.

For me, it was the last time to take advantage of first class on the German train. This probably won't happen again soon, but it was a nice side effect for this trip.

When traveling to Brussels, you always pass through this beautiful train station. Unfortunately, I don't remember exactly which stop it is. But someday I would like to change trains or get off there. It just looks so architecturally beautiful.

So goodbye Germany and hello Belgium!
