Oh Friedrichsbrunn. A significant part of my childhood.

In this beautiful place, I got to spend many vacations and associate numerous good memories with it. Family holidays in the past, now unfortunately rare, but occasionally I also vacation with friends. While I was in Germany, I finally had the chance to spend quality time in Friedrichsbrunn again.

I took two short vacations there. The May was essentially framed, and I refueled my Friedrichsbrunn tank. Right at the start, I spent three days with my parents, and right at the end, a few days with my siblings, my sister-in-law, and my sister-in-law's siblings.

The time with my parents was really refreshing. Great summer weather, time for walks and chores around the house, and of course, a lot of good food. Because in Friedrichsbrunn, one cannot miss a strawberry sundae at Mrs. Bonhoeffer in the summer, and a visit to Mrs. Gerne is also a must!

On the second day, my grandparents came to Friedrichsbrunn, and we spent a lovely time together.

With my grandmother, I had the opportunity to be truly creative again, painting various flowers from the garden, then (a further Friedrichsbrunn tradition) collecting nettles for a soup, and of course, making another stop at Café Bonhoeffer.

In the evening, I made a brief trip down to Quedlinburg. There, I visited my godfather. We enjoyed the time together, catching up on everything.

Then it was time to say goodbye again, but not for long since I would be back in four weeks.

Because 'the in-laws', that is, my sister, my sister-in-law's siblings, and I gifted my brother and sister-in-law a joint weekend in Friedrichsbrunn for their wedding. However, with six people, it's not easy to find a free weekend when everyone is available, so it took us two years to make it happen. But at least we found a weekend!

So we packed hiking shoes, games, and many snacks into a big car, with six people, and off we went up to the Harz. You walk into this house, and it smells just like before. Every time, it feels a little like coming home.

After a cozy evening together, it was quickly off to bed to be ready for the next day.

We took a small round by the lake. First, we visited the Friedrichsbrunner gondola pond. Then we walked to the Bergrad-Müller pond and had a nice round around Friedrichsbrunn.

On the second day, we went to the Devil's Wall. A pleasant walk from a small village to the Devil's Wall.

The Harz is a good place for hiking. So we took advantage of our last proper day to walk from Friedrichsbrunn to Treseburg. A very popular trail through the forests.

However, we returned by bus, as we couldn't make the walk back in time since Michi had a train to catch. The bus was full and warm, yet everyone was in good spirits.

And then it was time for us others to say goodbye as well. Saying goodbye to the short vacation and for me, to the little house. Every time, we had great luck with the weather and were able to experience so much. Whether first with my parents and grandparents or later with my siblings and the 'in-laws'.

That was a good dose of Friedrichsbrunn!
