Bielefeld and the Dr. Oetker World

Next stop Bielefeld. I also spent two nights here and was able to relax and stay in the city because of a Servas member. I mainly traveled to Bielefeld to visit the Dr. Oetker Museum.

However, on the first day I had some time to look around the city, and Nicole, with whom I stayed, gave me a little city tour.

First, we walked up a hill to get this view of the city, only to walk back down again and head up another hill on the other side of the valley to reach Sparrenburg.

In the evening, I went out again for a little walk around Siegfriedplatz and enjoyed the golden hour once again.

The next day, I set off early in the morning to the Dr. Oetker World. A guided tour with product tastings.

Upon arrival, we walked around the premises a bit before reaching the museum. The front area is equipped with information boards about the history of the Dr. Oetker brand, and you can also see the giant pudding, which can even be recognized from the train when passing by the world.

This is also called 'the pudding miracle', as it is actually a huge machine that produces rapid pudding in 2 minutes.

Then we entered the lower exhibition. Here, all sorts of products were on display. For instance, the very first packaging of the baking powder for which Dr. Oetker originally became known. But also other products and how they are made, as well as the many phases through which the various products must pass.

After this first tour, we had our first tasting. Pudding from the pudding miracle and four different types of muesli. All very tasty.

Then we moved on to the upper floors.

We got to watch a bit in the experimental kitchen and were then able to see another exhibition on the top floor. For example, old company cars and how the pharmacy looked where everything started.

In the end, there was a second tasting of lots of pizza, cakes, and all sorts of desserts. It was a really delicious museum visit.

On the way back through the old town, I naturally encountered a London telephone box (they're really everywhere).

And then my time in Bielefeld was already over, and I was on my way to Magdeburg for a concert, to continue on directly after to Altenburg.
