Haltern am See is a small town just around the corner from Münster. I just stopped by briefly to finally visit my cousin in her new home. Together with her and my aunt, we took a relaxed stroll around the lake in Haltern and chatted about my travels and all sorts of things.
Around the lake, the area is being developed into a place of experience. A skatepark is currently under construction, there’s a swimming area (to my dismay, no single spot where you could jump in for free), a climbing park, and much more.

Mostly though, it is a lovely patch of nature. A full round of the lake is about 9 km long, and at a relaxed pace, you’ll be walking for an hour and a half. During that time, we managed to discover quite a few things. For example, the attempt to be funny, or to bring a bit of city vibes into the forest (those telephone booths are really following me).

Then we had a really delicious meal and were able to get a good view of the lake from this barrel.

After our walk, I unfortunately had to say goodbye to my cousin again and we made our way back to Albachten. There I was able to enjoy a lovely evening with my aunt and uncle, who treated us to a delicious asparagus-lemon pasta.

A rather brief detour, which I enjoyed very much. And onward to Bielefeld.
