Enjoyable hiking despite the heat
We hike through the vineyards in the Kaiserstuhl

This article concludes the small report about our four weeks of pleasure cycling and hiking in the border area on both sides of the Rhine, between Alsace and Kaiserstuhl. It should be noted: What cannot be seen in the photos is how naturally coexistence across the border works here and today.
And what is equally astonishing is the juxtaposition in the Alsatian Rhine plain of intensive agriculture, which would not be possible without the numerous huge irrigation systems, right next to untouched natural areas, especially along the many canals that used to transport goods and today provide unforgettable nature experiences for cyclists. In every bush and on every tree, the birds are chirping!
This morning, with still bearable temperatures, we took one last small bike ride along the shady canal to Artzenheim and across the countryside through Baltzenheim, Kunheim, and Biesheim back to the campsite. Along the way, we discovered the sunflower field.
Tomorrow morning, the journey ends with the ride back home this time. We hope that we can travel again for a few weeks in September.
