On the Jammerbugten coast - Lonstrup, Lokken and Blokhus

Published: 08.07.2023

The day started as rainy as the previous one ended. At least improvement was expected for the afternoon. So it was a relaxed morning, around 11 o'clock the gray and black water was drained and fresh water was filled up, so we were ready to travel. The fridge was looking pretty empty by now, so first we went shopping in Lonstrup.

A pretty little village with many art galleries awaited us. In the Glashus you could watch the manual production of glass live in the glowing oven, fascinating. Most galleries are connected to a restaurant or café, very cozy and we can fully agree with the Danes, they know hygge (coziness). In another workshop, pottery was done at various workstations, at the same time it smelled deliciously of food.

We continued our journey to Lokken, which is known, among other things, for driving on the beach with a car. The sky was slowly clearing up, but the wind was blowing strongly on the roads in the inland. Of course, we had to drive onto the beach, because of the strong wind it was not easy to even open a door. Nature's force once again.

We first abandoned our plan to spend the night on the beach and parked Louise in the village of Lokken. We strolled through the flea market and through the village to the beach, where a surf school is also located. It was great to watch the kite surfers and wave riders.

In the search for a place to stay overnight, Della found one just a few kilometers further in Blokhus. Here, too, the road leads along the beach and we joined the motorhomes standing there. I was as happy as a queen of snow, sleeping on the beach became reality!

At lunchtime, we decided to have pizza, just to see if it works with the Cadac outdoor grill. Due to the wind, grilling outside was impossible, so we opened the sliding door on the leeward side. Perfectly mastered the challenge and pizza on the grill, done!

Of course, at such a place we had to fly a kite as well. Despite its 1.6m² area, it had quite a good pull with the wind, a lot of fun.

The sunset was the icing on the cake of the day. The sound of the sea lulled us to sleep afterwards.
