Peñafiel is a town and municipality in the eastern part of the province of Valladolid, in Castilla y León (Spain, Europe). It is currently considered the capital of the Peñafiel region. It belongs to the judicial district of Valladolid, the judicial district No. 1 of the province of Valladolid, and it is also part of the municipality association Campo de Peñafiel.

The most famous and recognizable monument of Peñafiel is undoubtedly its emblematic Peñafiel Castle, built between the 9th and 10th centuries and shaped like a ship, crowning a hill just opposite the center of Peñafiel. Today, this beautiful castle houses the interesting Provincial Wine Museum of Valladolid, dedicated to the renowned Ribera del Duero wine, of which Peñafiel is one of the main wine producers in the area; however, in Peñafiel, there are several traditional and/or family-run wineries where it's possible to purchase a bottle of Ribera del Duero wine produced in this beautiful Valladolid locale.

It has a population (according to INE data from 2023) of 5,172 inhabitants and an area of 76.11 km².

The beautiful parish church of Peñafiel is dedicated to San Miguel de Reoyo; it was built in the 16th century in Herrerian style. Throughout its history, Peñafiel has had 2 parishes: the one of San Miguel de Reoyo (the current parish church of Peñafiel) and that of Santa María de Mediavilla, which currently houses the interesting Regional Museum of Sacred Art.
