The beautiful Co-Cathedral of Castelló de la Plana/Castellón de la Plana (capital of the province of Castellón, in the Comunitat Valenciana, Spain, Europe) is dedicated to Santa María, which is why it is also known as the Church of Santa María la Mayor. It was recently built between the years 1940 and 1999 by the distinguished Castellón architect Vicente Traver Tomás, although another Co-Cathedral of Santa María existed in the 12th century that unfortunately burned down and was demolished during the early days of the Spanish Civil War, in 1936; this is why Vicente Traver Tomás was commissioned to construct the new and current Co-Cathedral of Santa María from scratch. The predominant architectural styles in the Co-Cathedral of Santa María are Valencian Gothic and Neo-Gothic. The Co-Cathedral of Santa María belongs to the Diocese of Segorbe-Castellón de la Plana and the Archpriesthood of Castellón-Santa María.
