The last place we visited in Vietnam was Hanoi. Here, the sky was gray, but there was plenty to do. It’s a big city, with plenty of rats. On the bright side, it was cozy and the food was good. We took a day trip to Ninh Binh, where we climbed a beautiful rock, and Miriam was scared by the local goats.
We explored the city and its famous streets and buildings. We also treated ourselves to a wonderful massage, which was just as good as in Thailand. We enjoyed a lot of Bun Cha. We also took a day trip to Ha Long Bay, where we saw the many cliffs in the water from our large boat. Here, we also visited a much larger cave than the one in Thailand and went kayaking in an area where the boat couldn’t reach.
When we were about to leave Hanoi and fly to China, we found out that flight tickets can be very expensive the day before travel, so we had to stay a few extra days to avoid paying a fortune for the tickets. However, it was fine, as we got to know the city well by then, so we could relax and visit the great eateries again.
After this, we will head to China, where we are pretty sure, but not 100 percent certain, that we can enter without a visa. Wish us luck.
