San Diego - the USS Midway

There is a lot of traffic on the highway even on Sundays at 08:00. We are on our way to San Diego, about 2 hours of driving on 4 to 8 lane highways (of course per direction!). I have booked tickets for the USS Midway, an aircraft carrier built in 1945, which has been decommissioned and can be visited here at the pier since 1992. One cannot deny a certain spirit of combat and heroic tales in the many explanatory texts, but it is still extremely impressive how 4,500 men were fed and accommodated here (I counted 4 complete dental dreams alone), and the newest carrier of the USA is twice as large! Time flies, and afterwards there is only a brief visit to the border strip at the Mexican border before we have to make our way back home.
