Today we will visit the northwestern part of the island. The Nuuanu Pali lookout offers a great, windy view of the island's western side. In Kailuna, we return to the sea, where the fire department and police look different. Continuing north is Mokolil Island, also known as the Chinese Hat. The mountains look amazing; parts of Jurassic Park were also filmed in this area. In Kahuku, we eat shrimp with rice and salad before passing the northern tip and visiting a surfer hotspot at Sunset Beach. In Haleiwa, there is a beach break, and the rough waves are fun for swimming. On the way back south, there is still a Dole plantation along the way, where pineapples grow that also find their way to us in Europe. With the now-familiar traffic on the partly 6-lane highway, we head back to the hotel.
