After Aminu landed in KK on the 12th, we traveled to Sandakan the next day, a city in the east of Sabah. There, we were picked up the following day for a three-day river safari!

The Kinabatangan River flows right through the jungle in Sabah. Along its banks, one can observe all sorts of animals, especially monkeys. We stayed two nights in a jungle camp and made trips up and down the river every morning at 6 and every afternoon at 4. We were able to see a lot: the famous proboscis monkeys of Borneo, macaques, silvered langurs, orangutans, crocodiles, hornbills, and even a small elephant on the way to the camp. Hanging out and sleeping in the camp was incredible, the soundscape and closeness to nature were great. We met really nice people!
