Holy Week (Easter Break)!!!!🐣🌼 This also means that everyone is off work and vacations are expensive… so it’s the perfect time to visit non-touristy places, because local bus companies offer students a 50% discount on bus tickets during Easter! 🚎
On Saturday at 4:00 AM, we headed to the airport and then to Veracruz. There, we picked up Miska at the hostel for breakfast.
In Veracruz, we visited the beautiful old town, local beaches (more military than tourists), and the surrounding islands - paradise! 🏝️⛱️
On Sunday, we went further north to Papantla - the vanilla growing city (UNESCO), home of the Voladores and the Tajin pyramids. 🛕 Everything was decorated so beautifully for Easter and we were the only tourists at the main attraction. The next day, we drove north/centrally to Xalapa to admire the surrounding Pueblos Mágicos:
Our last travel destination of the road trip was Puebla. One of my favorite cities in Mexico! So many beautiful, colorful streets and squares, lots of churches (really beautiful to visit at Easter), and great food! We also visited the Magical Town of Cholula, with a view over all of Puebla.
On the last day, we took the bus to Mexico City Airport and back to Guadalajara.
