from the previous night, we took a walk on the beach and watched the surfers. 🌊🏄🏽‍♂️</p><p style='color:rgb(0, 0, 0)'>In the afternoon, it was already time to depart for Cusco! A city at an altitude of 3400m, where you can feel every step in your lungs. 😮‍💨 However, this did not prevent us from a small city tour, during which we also met Melly and Dominik. Together, we headed to the famous San Pedro market and for lunch. My favorite Peruvian dish: Aji de Gallina! ☺️</p><p style='color:rgb(0, 0, 0)'>The altitude got to me a bit, so I spent the rest of the day in bed to rest for tomorrow.</p><p style='color:rgb(0, 0, 0)'>This morning, we had breakfast in the sun and then took the bus to Ollantaytambo. A town that many have never heard of, but one that is a beautiful traditional Inca town. Here, we were able to visit traditional markets, watch locals spin and crochet, and admire the ancient Inca mountain houses in the mountains. 🏞️🧶</p><p style='color:rgb(0, 0, 0)'>The next morning, we got up early: at 5:00 AM, as our train to Aguascalientes was waiting. The journey with PeruRail was breathtaking, through the untouched mountain scenery. In Aguascalientes, we were greeted by sunshine and warmer temperatures (22 degrees), allowing us to enjoy our breakfast in T-shirts. Our highlight in the afternoon was one of the 7 wonders of the world: Machu Picchu!</p><p style='color:rgb(0, 0, 0)'>We had booked our tickets 3 months in advance, but only upper tours were available... the view was indeed unique, but it would have been nice to walk through the town as well. Then our guide appeared, who secretly led us into the city for about 8€. There, we could also see llamas.</p><p style='color:rgb(0, 0, 0)'>The next morning began after breakfast with the InkaTrain tour back to Cusco. Unfortunately, I had to go to a hotel to recuperate for 2 nights due to illness - upper respiratory infection & a bit of altitude sickness. After the doctor confirmed that I could travel further, Evelina and I set off early in the morning on a bus for a 7-hour journey over the Camino del Sol through the beautiful Andean mountain landscape to Puno. A small indigenous town located right by Lake Titicaca (at 3800m, the highest lake in the world). Unfortunately, we only had the afternoon, as our bus to Copacabana, Bolivia left the next morning.</p><p style='color:rgb(0, 0, 0)'>One of the craziest border crossings I have ever experienced, walking to the Peruvian customs and then 50m over a small hill to

In the evening, we landed in Lima and, experiencing a slight shock from the cold (12 degrees), we headed to the hostel where Salla was already waiting for us from Bogota 🤗

After breakfast, we went to the Centro Historico, where we coincidentally landed at the Independence Parade from Argentina. We visited several other attractions until it was time to search for flea markets for the upcoming cold areas. For dinner, we only wanted to try a traditional Pisco Sour briefly, but it ended up being a long party night.🍸🪩
