Today we had to say goodbye to Edinburgh as our journey continues. Our cozy little house in the Highlands by Loch Ness is waiting for us. So, we left our apartment this morning and took an Uber to the car rental service at the airport. There, a beautiful BMW X5 was waiting. The guys diligently set to loading the car. Suitcase in, suitcase out, suitcase turning, suitcase tilting, swapping suitcase for trolley, cover on, cover off. Nothing fit! So the problem was solved in the way only men do. A much larger car was rented. Tetris was played again, but at an easy level, so that quickly all the suitcases and people fit into the car. This car is simply decadent and we felt like queens in our Mercedes GLS.
We drove for about 3 hours through the Highlands before stopping at the Tesco supermarket in Inverness to shop for our little house. The shopping cart was overflowing, and we returned to the car with 7 full bags. And there the Tetris game started over. Ultimately, we ended up sitting with the shopping bags on our laps in the car, driving the last 30 minutes to the house.
The little house is wonderful and is right by Loch Ness. We then unpacked in peace, cooked, and spent the evening together in the living room.
Tomorrow we want to explore Loch Ness and enjoy the sauna in the house.
