Me-day in Vienna

Joe unfortunately had to work today, which meant for me: Me-Time. To be honest, I had been looking forward to it all week. A day when I can simply follow myself, without a plan.

We still treated ourselves to our shared morning coffee at The Miners Coffee at Naschmarkt. The expectations were high, but the result was rather mediocre. The place didn't quite make it onto my repeat list. But fine, I'm not going to let that ruin my Me-Time day.

For breakfast, I then went alone to Joseph Brot, which I hadn't expected. Joseph Brot is an organic artisan bakery where everything is still made by hand, and the dough takes days to mature. So I went in thinking, 'just grabbing a quick bite', and came out a little fan. They had Eggs Benedict and a soda lemon, and I snagged the perfect spot: a single table right by the window with a direct view outside. Exactly my kind of thing. Love it. And of course, a bit of people-watching was also a must here; that has just become part of my good breakfast routine.

Afterwards, I indulged in a few relaxed shopping rounds until I was suddenly hit by a craving for Kaiserschmarrn and Prosecco. And here's the actual highlight of the day: I never expected to find such a dreamy location, namely at Gerstner K. u. K. Hofzuckerbäcker in Palais Todesco. From the outside, you only see a beautiful little shop, so you have no idea what's hidden behind it. The whole place extends over three floors, and on the second, somewhat hidden floor, a splendid café-restaurant awaited me. Gerstner has been supplying the Viennese court since 1847 and still carries the imperial K.-u.-K. title, which you can feel in every corner. Gold-ornamented walls, high ceilings, all that imperial charm. Kaiserschmarrn and Prosecco in such an ambiance, and completely by myself, was almost unbearably beautiful.

In the evening, my boyfriend was back, and we wrapped up the day together at Liesl.
