Bogota - Salzmine

Published: 02.04.2024

Day 20

Bogotá

A relatively relaxed journey on the night bus is behind us. To our surprise, our Canadian travel companion was also on board. The seats could be placed really far back without your legroom being really restricted by the front seat. The 7-hour journey was quite winding, but nothing compared to taking the small buses. I often woke up, but was surprised at how quickly the journey ended when we reached the final stop in Bogota. There we said goodbye to Chris and had to wait over 2 hours before Marius finally woke up. In the meantime, we had a Colombian breakfast that took some getting used to and then we were able to check into the apartment surprisingly early, where we met a very hospitable host.

After checking in briefly, we drove more or less directly to Zipaquirá and the salt mine. It was a great pleasure, especially since we were traveling with a large group. In the stunning large salt mine there were many stations that reflected the story of Jesus in various architectural sculptures and displays. The audio travel guide also told a lot about the years of work in the salt mine and how the place became what it is today. After a short break we drove to Andres. There was a tasty meal and a live dance and music show. I was also able to meet a buddy and his friends there before we went to Vringlers and had a lot of drinking and dancing there.
