The Magic of the Holy Grail
The Castle of Peñíscola. Here, the Holy Grail has been said to be hidden for centuries.

Our tour “Little Pearls of Spain” has come to an end. Out of sheer joy, I got carried away while writing yesterday, and instead of a travel report, I served you an adventure story. Sorry! But one doesn’t find the grail every day. :-)
We actually wanted to spend today in Peñíscola exploring the many little shops. However, the weather did not cooperate. Rain was in the air, and the wind blew like my lungs after a 100-meter sprint. Okay, a 50-meter sprint …
We briefly deliberated and did some research online about where it’s warmer in Spain these days. That’s when a name came up: Guardamar del Segura.
“That’s where we’re going,” said Icke. And in a tone that made me realize that any argument against it – no matter how good – would be completely pointless.
However, I couldn’t admit that I quite liked Guardamar for our next stop. Even if it’s about 350 kilometers in the opposite direction from where we originally wanted to go. Our plan was to check out some coastal towns on the way back to Barcelona. From there, Icke will fly home in a week and a half.
But whatever? Guardamar is a special place for us. We once stayed in an apartment here when we were still zooming through Spain in our Kia. Of course, we’ve also been here several times with the motorhome, met nice people, and have come to love the place.
We are parked freely right by the beach. Tonight, we will be lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves …
Tomorrow there will be a summary – then it's over. For now …
