Travel Day! Glenorchy to Franz Josef Glacier
First exciting action of the day: Getting to the gas station in Queenstown on reserve. Just an extra 11 km in the tank than necessary😁
Then we headed comfortably to the Kawarau Gorge Suspension Bridge, a historic, restored bridge where one can now enjoy bungee jumping. We'll definitely try that another time...
The highlight of the day was, of course, the bra fence. Julia even recognized a model. It's impressive how many people leave their bras behind.
The Wanaka tree stood dry, I was too lazy to walk up to it.
Afterwards, we visited a lavender farm. In the bright sun, the 20 degrees felt more like 26. The farm has become very touristy with a large shop, flowers, some animals, and a maze. You can easily spend 1 to 2 hours here, but we didn't have time.
And then, much to our joy, a rockfall with a crack. It’s actually a miracle that it didn’t happen sooner with all the gravel roads. Well, let's see how that progresses. Exciting to watch it grow!
The Bluepools were still closed, but the river is beautifully blue along its entire length. Due to my bad mood since the rockfall, I took few photos😅 but I did manage to capture a waterfall and rainforest at the Haast River.
To wrap up today, we enjoyed some better cuisine, beef cheeks on mashed potatoes with jus and greens.
