Travel day! Off we go towards Coromandel.
Along the way, there is plenty to see, and we make our first stop to stretch our legs at the Te Waihou walkway – Bluespring. The river is clear and simply beautiful to look at with many water plants. You follow the hiking path for about 10 to 15 minutes to reach the blue spring. Unfortunately, the source is barely visible, and the added value compared to the river is low. Nevertheless, it is a lovely little walk.
The next stop, which was clear beforehand, would be a bit more strenuous. The path to the Wairere Falls, lower viewpoint, takes about 45 minutes. However, along the way, there may have been some insults and expressions of hate. The trail first leads charmingly through the rainforest over roots and large round stones. Then it becomes a bit steeper; the thighs say 'yes, it's enough now,' and then there usually comes a small break. Some people also take a lot of photos to have a moment to pause😉. And then comes this brutal last section. It starts with an endless staircase and then turns into a steep, murderous hillside path. At least it was done after that. The view is good, excellent cardio training 3 out of 5 stars. However, I would refuse the further way to the waterfall itself, adding even more elevation...
Oh yes, in Tirau we also looked at a few of those corrugated iron huts. How the idea of building them in the shape of animals comes about is a mystery to me, but it attracts tourists.
The new accommodation is well-equipped and already located away from everything. The first time consciously using Starlink Internet.
The day ended with a magnificent play of colors at the beach.
