Beagle Channel Navigation mit Patagonia Adventure Explorer

Today we took a boat along the Beagle Channel. This is framed on both sides by the Andes - on one side the Argentine and on the other the Chilean :-) We chose the provider above because there are only about 25 people on a small boat. Other providers have large catamarans for up to 150 people. Neither of us wanted that.

The first stop was at the lighthouse at the end of the world "Les Eclaireurs" :-). It looked great to see the lighthouse standing on a small rocky island in the middle of the Beagle Channel. Tens of photos were taken. From the lighthouse we continued to another rocky island. There were a lot of cormorants sitting on it. The boat drove so close that we were able to take some really great shots. It also smelled like bird poop...!

My highlight was the next rocky island. Sea lions lived on this. Our guide said it could be that they had moved on because the group from the previous day had only been able to see two animals. We were lucky, the entire colony was there. Some were lying lazily on the rocks and others were shouting at each other. I could have spent the whole day here. It was really fun to watch the animals.

Then the trip continued to an island with original native flora. We got out here and were only allowed to walk a predetermined path to look at nature.

After a 30 minute tour of the island we went back to the harbor.

Back on land we went to our favorite restaurant “Chiko” and ate the biggest piece of meat of my life (and cooked it beautifully too).

We spend the rest of the evening planning our further trip through Patagonia. :-)
