The events are unfolding quickly and at the moment it's difficult to adequately describe the beautiful experiences we have had here in Costa Rica amidst the global crisis. Costa Rica is also naturally affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the impact is not as dramatic as in many other countries at the moment. As of today, 19.03., there are 69 confirmed cases and the number is increasing daily. Many restaurants have to close because they cannot meet the requirements or it doesn't make sense to stay open under these circumstances. The employees are not getting paid. Many taxi drivers stay at home out of fear of getting infected. But at the moment, we can still move relatively freely, whereas in Freiburg, a curfew will be implemented starting next Saturday. So we accept that we cannot go home at the moment, as our flight for today has been canceled. We are receiving a lot of wonderful help from dear people here and at home, and we are very grateful to everyone from the bottom of our hearts! Hopefully, the repatriation action of Germany will soon also include stranded people in Costa Rica; until then, our social contacts are limited to agoutis, crabs, house iguanas, grasshoppers, geckos, and iguanas. Even though we can't see our loved ones for now, due to travel bans to Switzerland, etc., we still want to be close to them and welcome our third grandchild, who is on the way into this world. Stay healthy, everyone!
