Hey there,
today we went to Arbroath, a small coastal town famous for its 'Smokies'. Arbroath Smokies are smoked haddock, and most of the shops that sell them have their own smokehouses. They are soaked overnight in saltwater and then smoked the next day over hardwood. Arbroath Smokies are considered a Scottish delicacy, and genuine Smokies can only be smoked within an 8 km radius of Arbroath.
After taking a little city tour from the harbor, we, of course, had to try them.... and they are delicious :o)
Then we continued to the Arbroath Cliffs, where we followed the Arbroath Cliff Trail. By now, the clouds had cleared, and we enjoyed brilliant sunshine and wind..... lots of wind :o))) The hike along the Cliff Trail was quite challenging for someone who has a problem with heights... like me. But the view was worth it. Sooo beautiful.
Later we returned to Montrose and explored the town there. Since Montrose, like the other coastal towns, isn't very big, there's not much to explore and report. It has a lovely little 'town center', consisting of one street, the High Street, with a church and small shops with colorful facades. There are no outstanding sights, but small treasures that are absolutely worth seeing.
That's it for today... Wishing you all a wonderful evening and see you soon...
