From Nizwa to Salalah
From Nizwa, we traveled across the desert on a well-paved road. Almost 1,000 km to Salalah in the southwest right on the Indian Ocean. We spent one night halfway through the trip....

We start shortly after sunrise in Salalah to head back to the northern part of Oman. It is again a long journey, 7 1/2 hours, that we aim to cover. This time, we will follow the coast directly. The route is very impressive, with mountains on one side and the coast always on the right. You can stop now and then, either to go to the beach or simply to make stops at viewpoints to enjoy the scenery. Or in the middle of it all is an oasis or a mini waterfall, currently just dripping.
The roads are excellently paved, and there is almost no traffic. Interestingly, there are no tunnels like we have, but parts of the mountain are simply excavated.
And you can frequently see camels, sometimes they are just standing by the roadside.
