Las Vegas, Baby! (Part 2)

...actually almost part 3, if you count Reto's sports reporting 😉 But Las Vegas is just so amazing that it deserves at least three posts 😂

Our explorations of the Strip continued into the next round. We had to go to the tallest tower, the Strato-Tower, as well. The view from there was great 😎 There’s even a roller coaster up there - but it was out of service 😉

We also had the Children Discovery Museum and 'Old' Las Vegas on the agenda at Fremont Street, about 7 km away from the relatively new Strip (which has only been around since the 1960s). In 1906, the first hotel on Fremont Street was opened, and today it is a (pleasantly shaded) pedestrian zone with all kinds of colorful shops, casinos, and many exciting street performers. Definitely worth a visit, we thought 😊

We, of course, included the Discovery Children's Museum in the program for the boys. In addition to a gigantic indoor playground, children can experience all elements and conduct experiments with them (and touch, push, and try everything, really everything 😉) Conclusion: all three were most excited about 'Air': There, you could build your own flying device from various materials and test it in different wind tunnels (and then improve it further) - very cool 😁 Definitely worth a visit and especially nice to spend two hours in comfortably air-conditioned rooms when it’s 36 degrees outside 😉

After that, we had to visit the last spectacular hotels/casinos on the Strip. We still missed Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, and New York, New York. However, I think only Luxor was really great - it's so cool how everything looks like back in the Pharaohs' time 🤩 (Oh, and I also ate what is (almost) the best piece of cheesecake of all time here in Las Vegas: at the Cheesecake Factory in Caesars Palace 😋 No piece of cake in the display has less than a whopping 900-1000 calories - but at this moment, no one really cares - it’s just sooo delicious 😋)

Finally, there’s gambling: Unfortunately, we could never gamble in the casino - because of the boys. We could only walk through. As soon as you stopped, you were sent away. Luckily, there was also a casino (Sams Town) right next to our campsite, and Reto definitely wanted to 'recoup' his NHL tickets on the last night 😉 Well, what can I say? He is also a lucky guy: with an extra 250.-, he came back almost 3 hours later; at one point, it was even 500.- 🤑😘

So, that’s it for Las Vegas, now it's off to Death Valley - next stop: Lake Isabella.
