Canada - Day 7 (2) - Stopover in Parksville

Published: 04.09.2018

From the Rainforest Trail, we continued our drive straight to Parksville. Along the way, we made a few photo stops at picturesque places. Before heading to Parksville, we took a detour to Qaulicum Beach, which was supposed to be very beautiful. However, when we arrived, we couldn't really confirm that. Maybe it was because the weather was still rainy, but we didn't find the beach particularly nice, so we decided to continue on to Parksville.

We had booked a motel there, where we checked in right away. It seemed clean and alright for one night, but I wouldn't recommend staying here for longer. It really couldn't compare to the beautiful Airbnb accommodation we had in Tofino. However, the location of the motel wasn't bad, right by the beach and even with its own private access to it. Just as we wanted to take advantage of the break in the rain to see the beach, it started raining again. I was really getting tired of this constant rain. Since we arrived in Tofino, it had been raining non-stop. Once again, it was time to put on our rain jackets and go. Luckily, it didn't rain continuously, but it stopped every now and then. However, it wasn't exactly pleasant beach weather. It was a shame because the beach in Parksville was really beautiful. On a nice summer day, you could definitely spend a lovely, quiet day at the beach here. The beach is huge and clean. We took a stroll along it for a while, but it was already evening, so we soon went back to our accommodation to go to sleep. Tomorrow, we had to get up early to take the ferry back to Vancouver. From there, we would drive to Squamish and meet Luke's brother, who is currently spending a year abroad in Canada.
