So today we left Vancouver Island and drove back to the mainland. We took the first ferry back to Vancouver, Horseshoe Bay. The ride itself was quite uneventful. Unlike the trip there, we sat inside the whole time because the weather outside was simply too unpleasant. Very unfortunate, because the ride is supposed to be very beautiful in good weather. But once again, we had no luck...
Upon arriving at Horseshoe Bay, we headed to Squamish to meet Luke's brother, Chris, who is currently doing a year of work and travel there. The road to Squamish goes through the Sea to Sky Highway, which is said to be one of the most beautiful roads in Canada. I assume that's the case in good weather, but all we saw was a wall of white clouds and rain. The weather today was truly a disaster. The worst day so far! And yes, I will complain about the weather several times throughout this post! :D It really messed up our plans.
When we arrived in Squamish, we finally met up with Chris after almost a year. The plan was to take the Sea to Sky Gondola, but that was out of the question with this weather. In addition to the rain, which was getting heavier, it was only 8 degrees Celsius. So we decided to grab some food first. At least the food was really delicious, but we had no idea what to do with the day now. Unfortunately, everything here is geared towards outdoor activities. So, we initially tried to brave the weather and drove to Shannon Falls, which was only 10 minutes away. However, we didn't stay there for long because we were already drenched and freezing after a short time. And no one needs to come at me with the saying 'There is no bad weather, only bad clothing' :D The weather could definitely be described as bad, and clothing didn't help much either ;)
So, we fled back to the car and decided to go straight to Whistler. We were originally planning to go there in the evening and had booked our next accommodation there, but the weather forced us to change our plans.
So, off to Whistler!
