Unfortunately, our day didn't start well today. At least for Verena. She had a migraine attack. That's why we didn't leave until noon and had to change and redesign our day plan at short notice.
First, we went to 'Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery'. This is a huge area with 191,079 (!!!) graves. Soldiers and members of the US military are buried here. This cemetery is so famous because it consists of countless white tombstones arranged symmetrically to each other. The entire area is located high above the Pacific. You have a beautiful view of both the sea and downtown San Diego.
Then we went to the San Diego Zoo. It is not only the largest in North America, but also one of the most beautiful zoos in the world.
This fulfilled a great dream for both of us. We were able to admire two pandas live and in color.😍
One of them was unusually active, the other was eating bamboo just like you imagine a panda would. 🐼🎋
Franzi and Lenni would have definitely liked that 😊😄
In general, it can be said that this zoo is really beautiful and a lot of attention is paid to the well-being of the animals.
Afterwards, we spent some time in Downtown and had a very good and delicious dinner at 'Applebee's'. This restaurant chain is tasty, affordable, and finally not fast food! We will definitely not be the last time here.
If the weather is good, we will go to the beach tomorrow and relax from the road trip so far.
We are now going back to the hotel and dreaming of pandas 😍😴🐼🎋
