La Rochelle continues to prove a fantastic city. In addition to a really buzzing nightlife, there are beautiful arcades with many shops, mainly for fashion. Organic food is also available; BioMonde is even better stocked than BioCoop. Supermarkets are open until 10 PM in some cases. I go every day to the nearby industrial area at the New Harbor. It is designed in a top modern way, with small businesses offering creative products for boats lined up, such as specialized electronics and new types of sail materials. It's no coincidence, as there is a technical college and a university here. The young employees often linger in front of the business in the evenings, chatting over a beer. I have lunch here at a restaurant that cooks high-quality but affordable meals for these young engineers; for 20 €, you get a three-course meal that is really fresh and incredibly tasty!
