The southernmost point of Sweden (21.07.2018)

Published: 21.07.2018

Today, I decided to drive to the southernmost point of Sweden and explore it.

After breakfast, I set off. First, I went to Smygehuk, the southernmost point of Sweden. It is 314 km as the crow flies from Berlin. The view of the sea was beautiful. The sky and the sea merged on the horizon. It was simply wonderful to have a view of this horizon. After enjoying the view for a while, I continued along the water. There was an old house with a photo exhibition showing what the old fishing village used to look like. It was very interesting to see and read about.

I strolled along the water for a while and then returned to my car. Then I continued to Trelleborg. There is a reconstructed Viking castle and a museum there. Unfortunately, the museum was only in Swedish again. At least I didn't have to pay an entrance fee because I'm not yet 20 years old. So at least I didn't lose any money... The museum displayed Viking artifacts and provided information about the history of the Vikings.

After absorbing all this information, it was time for me to move on. The road led directly along the sea and brought me to the Falsterbo Peninsula. I bought some food in a supermarket in Höllviken and then drove to the beach in Skanör. There, I wanted to find a cosy spot by the water and enjoy my food. However, finding a quiet spot by the water turned out to be impossible. The beach was so crowded that I could hardly find any space. So I walked a bit further and settled down behind the first sand dune. From there, I had a nice view of Copenhagen and the Øresund Bridge. After enjoying my food and looking around, it was already four o'clock. So I decided to go back to the car because I wanted to visit another museum. However, it seemed that several people had the same idea, resulting in a traffic jam that I also got stuck in. Since I don't have air conditioning in my car, I felt like I was dying of heat... So the traffic jam felt like hours to me...

When I finally arrived at the museum, it turned out that the opening hours had changed and it was already closed. And for that, I had been stuck in traffic for so long... Great...

Annoyed and now also a bit tired from the warm weather, I got back in the car and started my journey home.

Today's distance driven: 173 km
