From Waimate to Twizel
With unbelievable views

Actually, nothing much happened today, but then again, quite a bit did. After waking up wonderfully near Twizel in the morning, I headed towards Lake Pukaki, which isn't far away. On the way, I stopped by a salmon farm, and wow, I had no idea how big they are. I somehow thought they were relatively small. Anyway, I drove through Twizel and scored the dream – if you ask me, a premium camping chair. After that, it was really time to head to the camp. And it’s a dream; you can already see Mt. Cook, the highest mountain in New Zealand, the lake in front, and mountains all around. I used this gas stove for the first time, and I tell you, I was scared it was going to blow up in my face. But I ended up with a strangely flavored tomato soup, wuhu. It worked wonderfully. At some point in the afternoon, Ethan, with whom I want to work starting tomorrow for a few days, texted me. I met him about 6 minutes away at his rental houses, which are situated so beautifully, and from there I can see my camp. He looked exactly as I had imagined: outdoor clothing with a vest, beard, cap, sunglasses, and a huge truck in front of the house. Unbelievably nice, he explained everything to me in detail, was very friendly, and even showed me the spot where we will meet tomorrow at 10. To avoid driving too far, I can park there (5 minutes from the camp), and then he will take me in his truck. Tomorrow we are going to the lavender farm, which isn’t operating right now, but there’s still plenty to do. I’m excited and happy and just glad that he’s such a warm and kind person. I got the keys for the shower in Twizel, and it was so nice. I had to pay 4 dollars for hot water, but that’s totally fine. There are also mirrors and toilets, etc., in the event center. I grabbed some snacks and headed to the camp, where you could see Mt. Cook almost without clouds now. Now, something to laugh about, typical Carina: I left my power bank for charging in the sunlight (solar power bank) on the windshield wiper at the front, all the way at the edge. When Ethan texted me about the job, I took off as fast as I could. When I got back to the camp, I searched for the power bank like a mad person until I remembered, fuck, I put it back in the car, didn’t I? Turns out I didn’t, but I was so lucky; a few meters away it was lying a bit damaged but working perfectly. Good, it won't be going back on the hood anymore, haha. Now I’m reading and enjoying the view.
