Today was Fuji Day.... we were as excited as can be that it was finally starting.
First things first, we had breakfast... and indeed, we got our breakfast today at Wendy's Kitchen. No schnitzels but... burgers with iced Pepsi... how crazy.
Since the Shinkansen doesn’t go to Fuji, we had a bus for the first time on our trip, which took us from Nagano south to Kamakura with a stop along the way.
The bus decided halfway through not to follow the itinerary... in true Japan style, a replacement bus was already waiting as we rolled into the parking lot with our overheated bus... so it was a quick switch and off we went.
It was quite a great feeling to see Fuji for the first time on the highway... and everyone pulled out their phones to take the first pictures as if there wouldn’t be a second chance.
But of course, there was one, in the Fujihakone National Park... with a view of the summit, 15 km away in a straight line... unfortunately a bit hazy, but it could hide completely in the clouds. We had a picnic by the lake with a view of Fuji, and somehow we both got the desire to hike up there. However, for now we were content with just taking nice photos...
Then we continued to our destination for today: Kamakura... the city of 17 shrines and 56 temples... no worries, we will only visit 2 today, the Shinto shrine
Tsurugaoka Hachiman, where sake is also served, which we obviously participated in.
Back at the hotel, we were served special sushi in an izakaya kitchen.
Then, as always, we fell into bed tired.
Good night Germany.. Tomorrow we are off to Tokyo.
