Gorge of the Pigeons & Old Town of Biel/Bienne

Along the Schüss, descend the wild waters towards Biel

From Biel, take the Regio for two stations to Frinvillier; from there, always follow the signs to Biel. The actual entrance to the gorge is at a restaurant, where there is also a small public parking lot further up. 

I took the train one station further up to Péry-La Huette because I wanted to walk a bit longer. However, it wasn't very rewarding—except for the Thai restaurant right at the Péry-La Huette train station, which would have been an option for a break… 😋. The path leads me along the main road, right through the grounds of a huge cement factory and through a construction site, before it becomes a bit greener just before Frinvillier and the entrance to the gorge occurs. 

There, it is pleasantly cool and the path is varied, partially adorned with information panels. 

At the end of the gorge, there is a direct entrance to the Biel Zoo as an extended option. After that, make sure to continue along the path through the gorge, as it becomes truly beautiful and wild. 

Upon reaching the end of the gorge, you can follow the Schüss further for about 5 km to where it flows into the lake right in the city of Biel. Alternatively, you can take the bus directly at the gorge exit and make a detour to the beautiful old town of Biel.
