St. Ursanne

Today I took the train to St. Ursanne: the perfect mix of nature, small town charm & culture!

Upon arriving at the train station, I am first drawn to the water - the path descends steeply, and within a few minutes, I find myself at a lovely little beach by the Doubs river. However, I continue along the water until I cross over the Doubs into the small town.

The cathedral is a must-see! A highlight was the displayed relics. Afterwards, I take a stroll through the old town and enjoy a brief rest by the cool water before climbing the steps up to the hermitage.

The ascent is worth it! After that, a pleasant shady sculpture path, where the story of St. Ursus is told, leads me through the forest back toward the train station.

The small town isn't very large, and in 2-3 hours, you can see quite a bit.

🧩: Swimming at the Doubs

⏰: From the train station to the old town along the Doubs takes about 30 minutes, and via the sculpture path, it takes nearly 40 minutes to/from the hermitage, as there are some elevation changes to handle. 😅
