Down through the Areuse Gorge 🇨🇭
By train 🚂, we traveled via Neuchâtel to the Noiraigue station. Alternatively, you can get off one station earlier at the Champ-du-Moulin station, shortening the hike by about...

Neuchâtel is known for its lake and the cathedral.
And what else? From the train station, it's a 10-minute climb up the stairs; bienvenue encore plus loin!
You will find the Eremithen Cathedral with its lovingly warm and colorful interior, set in a charming and powerful atmosphere.
Next, you walk to the Botanical Garden, which can be reached in a good five minutes; entrée gratuit! Beautifully designed, well-maintained, and signposted. A highlight is the restaurant; homemade cakes, ice creams, and a small shop with souvenirs. Salt and pepper find their way into my backpack.
A tour takes about 1 hour and ends at a resting spot in the woods or optionally by the pond, with water lilies and dragonflies. I definitely recommend taking the entrance/exit in the east, as this ends by a pond with a magical stone archway. Then, you go back down the stairs to the train station.
