The road to Batumi!
After the nationalistic-religious Black Sea coast of Turkey, Batumi appears like a shining wonder of pleasure when entering at night. Everything shines and sparkles.
You can still see the old Batumi, but construction is everywhere, entire streets are scaffolded, and the most incredible skyscrapers, the shining pearl of the Black Sea.
Esti is unfortunately quite sick now and needs to recover at the hotel. But what joy it is to be back in Georgia. The food, the wine, the people, the landscape, everything is good, beautiful, and stylish.
We spend the first break since Greece in Ureki, camping under pine trees, the black magnetic sand, beer at the beach bar, Kakhati chacha from a plastic bottle in the pouring rain with the guys who share chicken and cheese with us, toasting to love and Esther, with khinkali and shashlik at Café Ureki.
The travel time to Tbilisi has halved in the last two years. Despite the wet and cool weather, it is the most beautiful city. With the funicular up to Mtatsminda, looking over the entire city. Watching the skaters and running through the fountain in Dadaena Park.
Two days in the failed but beautiful paradise of Chateau Chapiteau, Supra during the grape harvest. Then up into the Caucasus. Our beautiful Ju'ta in the rain, the first time below freezing in the bus.
Nevertheless, we set out for our first hike and are rewarded: the clouds break open and the mountains reveal themselves. Pancakes and Krakow with mountain panorama.
Stepantsminda is our last stop in Georgia. The best food in the country at Restaurant Maisi. The last night in the parking lot of the Gergeti Monastery, which, like Mount Kazbegi, remains hidden behind dense fog.
We spend the morning cleaning our phones. The next border crossing gives us quite a bit of nervousness.
