Route: 131 kilometers, accumulated: 3,737 kilometers | Elevation: 1,010, accumulated elevation 16,130 meters, distance from home: 183 kilometers (as the crow flies)

Each day I make dozens of decisions. Most of them unconsciously, others without much thought. However, there are also decisions where I have to consider what the best and safest alternative is for me and my trip. This includes information that I can gather online. The weather is an important factor, then the destination, which I can determine by arranging accommodation, and finally the type of route that Komoot suggests to me. My condition, or rather the strength I feel I can muster to reach a goal, is also important.

My desired destination for today was Memmingen, but realistically it was Mindelheim, which is 30 kilometers less in distance. Today, the risks of the weather also added up, and of course, I could not underestimate the constant headwind as well as the climbs I had to overcome.

So I programmed a non-booked accommodation in Mindelheim into Komoot. This gave me a destination but no obligation. I was able to set off before half past seven; I could choose and take my breakfast with me. The lady even offered me a small breakfast. So, I had a hot chocolate and ate fruit yogurt with muesli. I packed the rest and took it with me.

The first part of the ride worried me a little. I went deep into the Isar valley and up again on the other side. If there was a lot of traffic, it would be tight and uncomfortable for me. But I relaxed and thought that (my e-bike and I) had already solved much bigger problems. And just 30 minutes later, all that was behind us, and I felt really good. What is the weather doing? Soon the first drops came, but the sky told a different story. I only saw bright clouds and even blue gaps between them.

And it stayed that way until Mindelheim, and finally until Memmingen. Meanwhile, the battery capacity of the e-bike was significantly reduced by the headwind, and continuing seemed impossible. So I went into a patisserie I knew from before and simply asked if I could have something to drink and charge my battery. Because I had asked so nicely, the lady agreed. When I set off an hour later, both my energy and that of the e-bike were ready for another 30 kilometers.

Around 90 minutes later, I reached Memmingen, where I had now booked a room since I definitely did not want to continue any further.

Throughout the day, I kept seeing rain clouds ahead of me, but I never got caught in the rain. There was a nice spot for my e-bike in a barn, complete with an outlet. Thus, we are ready for the next stage.
