• How about a wild and romantic valley today, free from hordes of tourists, where you can walk leisurely and enjoy nature?

We at Baden-Württemberg in Pictures are always on the lookout for beautiful spots in the region and strive to stay (as much as possible) off the beaten tourist path. Therefore, our advice: Discover unknown trails!
How about a trip to the lesser-known side valleys of our rivers? Recently, we explored the Aimersbacher Tal – yes, you read that right: Aimersbach and not Allmersbach. The Aimersbach is a tributary stream of the Rems near Lorch. Similar to the nearby Götzenbach, its name is derived from a small temple dedicated to Amor, which was part of the Roman fort of Lorch. This temple is said to have given the stream its name.
Along the left watershed to Götzenbach runs the Upper Germanic-Rhaetian Limes. Its former route is still visible today through historical boundary stones. Highlights of the area include reconstructed watchtower foundations and the Bemberlesstein, where ancient wheel tracks have been preserved in its reed sandstone. The forest sports path partly follows the course of the Limes. The start and endpoint of this route is the CVJM home; along the way, the path passes several tributaries of the Aimersbach.
The valley of the Aimersbach is deeply cut and fed by countless small side streams and springs. The stream flows through layers of reed sandstone and colorful marls. The landscape impresses with its biodiversity: alongside orchids like two-leaved and lady's slipper orchids, sedges, rushes, and marsh buttercups thrive in the amphibian ponds, with the occasional presence of troll flowers. In exposed places of the reed sandstone, heather, blueberries and broom shape the scenery.
