Thursday, October 28, 2021 - Day 4
Today we visit Palace of Versailles. The huge forecourt is crowded with never-ending queues. Entry is free for EU citizens under 26, but it takes forever to get our tickets.
The guided tour, like in all old palaces, takes us through the opulent yet stuffy grand rooms, and with so many people it's hard to see anything.
The park is impressive due to its size, but there are a few tips: Definitely buy the tickets in advance and don't visit in autumn when everything in the garden is pruned back and almost winter-ready. And perhaps consider using a golf car to get around.
Some metro lines also operate with rubber-tired trains, a technology developed as early as the late 1920s by Michelin, makes sense.
A long, not so exciting day comes to an end, with another 20,000 steps to reach Bar Le Trait d'Union.
