Upon arriving in Jakarta, we immediately visited the company's office. It is located several miles south of the city center. After what felt like four hours in traffic and actually spending two hours crossing the city, we finally arrived at the address. During my time in Indonesia, I can of course also use the office in Jakarta, but I have the feeling it will be the first and last time I'm in this windowless 4 sqm room. But I could be mistaken...
The weekend consisted of evaluating and documenting the company visits and helping with the preparations for the Indonesian Lightwood Cooperation Forum (ILCF) conference on Monday, March 13th.
This forum is intended to provide an initial snapshot of the lightweight wood sector in Indonesia. Many entrepreneurs and university professors, as well as government officials, participated in the forum. The reactions were extremely positive.
One of my tasks here in Indonesia will be to organize the ILCF 2018.
Originally, I was supposed to board a Garuda Airlines flight on March 14th and arrive in Yogyakarta on the same day, but these plans were spontaneously changed. More about that in the next post!
PS: The Lara Djonggrang restaurant in the center of Jakarta is highly recommended.
