Day 20 A Sunday in the Rain
Today it rained all day long. A perfect Sunday to chill. In the morning, we all got ready to go to church. Victor had cooked half the night and continued this morning right from...

Today it poured all day long – and accordingly, we slept in late. We leisurely enjoyed our yogurt with strawberries and waited until Victor and Stephanie had left the house. In the morning, Victor surprisingly told us that Stephanie's mother and her brother were arriving from Nigeria today. It was unexpected – but since everyone handled it quite relaxed, we did too.
So now we are six adults and one child in a small three-room apartment. It sounds cramped, and it is – but somehow it works.
Before the three left, Mika was still running, and I played with Perry – which is really sweet. He talks non-stop. Unfortunately, I don't always understand him, but he consistently calls me 'Andra' – about 86 times an hour.
I didn't leave the apartment until 5 PM. Then Mika and I went shopping – and that was it. When we returned, the others also came back from the airport. I was excited to meet Stephanie's mother – by the way, she is the same age as I am. We then spent another two hours molding Play-Doh with Perry. And that was the day. Not much happened – which is nice sometimes.
Oh yes, I should also mention our brief McDonald's visit. Cappuccino – because there’s no coffee in this household. A very eager employee constantly cleaned around us and eventually engaged us in conversation. He raved about his island – the most beautiful in the world, he said. We naturally agreed, internally chuckling a bit. Our taste seems to be somewhat different – but it’s nice when someone is so proud of their home.
Stephanie's mother had brought various dishes from her homeland – Victor was in heaven. I got to taste… and had to admit: Even the smell was rather special for me.
Insight of the day:
Beauty and taste really lie in the eye of the beholder. There is no universally valid rule for anything.
