Tag 13 - Québec - just too warm for everything

Today we simply slept in - after all, it's Sunday. And somehow the last few days have been quite busy.

Mika naturally wanted to stick to his training plan - so we looked for a route for his 8 km run and decided on a quarter by the river.

On our way to the elevator in the hotel, we met a French-speaking man who was trying to stack three suitcases and four bags somehow into the small elevator. We made some room, helped out - and he cheerfully chatted away at us in French. We didn't understand much, just smiled and nodded. A floor later, the whole thing happened in reverse: unload everything - unfortunately at the wrong floor. So back again, everything back in - help again. A woman joined us, and she also helped without hesitation. The man was visibly embarrassed - but he remained friendly, continued to talk to himself as if it were the most normal thing in the world, and kept thanking us. He didn’t even notice we didn’t understand him.

It was just a small moment - suitcases in, suitcases out, a bit of laughter. I can’t quite explain it, but it was really nice, everyone helped willingly and laughed at the same time. In the end, “bon voyage” - that was a nice start to the day.

Mika started his run, I strolled through the residential area. Beautiful houses, none like the other. Almost all have large front yards - with green grass and flower beds right by the house. No sidewalks, but big trees. These flower beds, as we have them, at the edge of the garden, these houses here don’t have. It reminded me of Australia or Florida - just with plants like we know them from home.

It was an incredibly humid day: 33 degrees, cloudy, but hot like in Hong Kong. There was really no wind. Correspondingly exhausted and dripping, I picked up Mika again.

After the run: back to the hotel, shower (Mika). Then off again - to the beautiful old town of Québec. Get something to eat, do a bit of strolling. In the meantime, it had rained, but it remained humid. Too warm to really feel like exploring the city.

So, Mika had the idea to go to a nearby waterfall. Said and done. My highlight there was on a meadow: a family of beavers! I really enjoyed that. The path to the waterfall led over a wooden walkway, and this humidity really reminded me of the rainforest. Finally, we could walk over a bridge over the waterfall. It was nice.

To finish off, we did some shopping, back to the hotel, into the air conditioning - watched a bit of a series.

And tomorrow? Whale watching.

When I booked it, I didn’t realize how elaborate it is: 11 hours we are on the way: bus and ship. Actually, we don’t feel like it at all right now. But maybe we will really see some whales. And if not - I’ll just send you the photos from Australia. No one will notice 😉

Best regards and good night! 🌙

Oh, by the way, the realization of the day:

Sometimes it’s just too warm for everything - even today for the blog!
