Early in the morning, we are off again towards the Erongo Mountains. The road is terribly bad - what we need is… a grader driver with his working machine. You might ask who or what that is? Yes, we love him, the driver of the grader, who tirelessly levels the desolate dust roads of Namibia and after a day's work climbs into his camper trailer, where sometimes his wife awaits him to spend the evening and night together.
We have seen such vehicles time and again and were always glad when the grader driver was levelling our side of the road, that is, the left side (in Namibia, we drive on the left).
After a few hours of struggling with deep holes, puddles, and the uncomfortable ruts that make the car shake so badly that you feel like your fillings are being rattled out, we arrive at a campsite in the plateau of the Erongo Mountains that is so well-maintained that we can only wonder. No faucet drips, there is even hot water, and the sand pitch offered to us has been cleaned of every leaf with a rake. Each site has a toilet and a shower - everything is spotlessly clean. We take the opportunity to wash some laundry. For six weeks, you can't pack enough clothes in a travel bag - you have to do laundry in between.
Tomorrow we have a long distance to cover: 240 km - hopefully, the grader driver has been diligent!😁
