Unfortunately, we had little to no network. So here's a small update:

Red Dunes, the camp on the red dunes at the edge of the desert, is beautiful. From up here, we see a whole herd of giraffes and want to have a nice evening. In the distance, we see dark clouds approaching. Suddenly, a storm sets in. The storm intensifies, and setting up the rooftop tent is out of the question! So we drive down from the dune in the darkness (Deep Sand!) and park ourselves in the savannah below. Tent set up, and in the next moment, it starts pouring - as if from buckets! Additionally, the alarm for the onboard battery goes off - no power! Michael changed the starter battery, but of course, he didn't change the onboard battery (for the fridge and lighting). It seems that one is now finished!

But first, let's sleep!!!! In the morning, we call Avis again - we are heading towards Kgalagadi

we cannot wait since our friends are waiting for us at the border crossing and they currently have no network and are unreachable. Our next stop: Mata Mata. Avis informs us that Michael is coming to Mata Mata (about 6 hours from Windhoek….)

We drive about 2 hours on gravel roads and arrive punctually at Mata Mata. Our friends are waiting for us there, and we are very happy to see them again. At the border crossing, a South African border officer extorts us for about 20€ because we have a few bottles of beer too many, and then we check into the camp together with our friends. Just before 4:30 PM, the phone rings: Michael is at the border and has a new battery with him. Right at the border crossing, he changes the battery. We thank him and hope again that we won’t need him anymore.

In the evening, we have a feast. Werner brought tuna, and we contribute vegetables. Now everything seems just right!

In the next days, we will be in the Kgalagadi National Park (a part of the Kalahari) and will have no network. I will check in again in about 4 - 5 days!

Thank you for all the messages. The network here is so slow (pictures don't go through at all) that I currently cannot respond. It’s nice that you’re following along with us!🤗
